Job Announcement
The Southern Sudan Interactive Radio Instruction (SSIRI) Project is part of the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology. The primary objective of SSIRI is to develop and broadcast educational radio programs to children, youth, and adults in order to improve access to and quality of education throughout southern Sudan and the Three Areas. In addition, SSIRI has introduced other learning technologies and low-cost alternatives for delivering audio programs to schools and learning centers. SSIRI is administered by EDC and funded by USAID.
SSIRI is seeking qualified staff for two Senior Technical Advisor positions to be based in Juba, with extensive traveling in the Southern Sudan and the three areas. Both Senior Technical Advisors will be responsible to the Chief of Party for:
  • Liaising with Ministry of Education, Science and Technology on issues relating to program development and implementation
  • Providing leadership to outreach staff on the planning and implementation of SSIRI activities
  • Preparing program plans and reports as appropriate
Position 1: Senior Technical Advisor (Outreach)
  • Work closely with education officials, as well as NGO education partners, to ensure program expansion, support, and quality
  • Provide ongoing supervision, monitoring, support, training and assessment of outreach staff
  • Coordinate and supervise the training of education officials, partners, and teachers, including developing and revising training materials as necessary
Position 2: Senior Technical Advisor (Production)
  • Liaise with local FM radio stations to ensure regular and timely broadcasting of SSIRI programs and other educational programs
  • Develop and produce promotional and other radio programs
  • Provide training in the production of educational programs
  • Liaise with the ICT coordinator on the most effective use of radios and digital devices
  • Coordinate the development and production of printed materials
Qualifications
  • University degree in education or related field. Preferably a masters degree or doctorate
  • Preference will be given to Sudanese citizens
  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • At least 8 years working experience in senior management positions preferably in education
  • Computer literacy in MS word, Excel, Outlook and the internet
  • Should be able to work independently with minimal direct supervision
