Role Requirements
- The ideal candidate will have at least five years of senior editorial experience, including overseeing and developing a staff.
- They must be able to write articles to a high standard, edit all content coming in and train editorial staff
- They must have the ability to build a team of independent freelance content producers.
- In addition to the ability to nurture a strong editorial voice.
- The job requires a sense for business and marketing, the ability to focus under fast-paced pressure, and the capacity for managing multiple tasks at once.
- Great communication skills, attention to detail, and a sense of humor are all a must.
- The person filling this role should understand what makes content on the web "sticky," conversation-starting and good for SEO. Ability to work with or understand the backend of web design and development helpful including but not limited to CMS, HTML, Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Excel and familiarity with AP style are all a plus.
Key Responsibilities
- Leading a team of editors and freelancers to create unique and original text, photo and video content
- Managing the calendar of content for the site
- Leading the build out of content including strategic plan for new sections of content and new initiatives
- Editing and approving all articles and posts and features every day
- Managing the flow of content creation from writer to publication
- Conceiving of innovative ways to distribute content across the web
- Coordinating the editorial and advertising teams for sponsored content projects
- Working closely with other content sites across www.home.co.ke for cross-promotion
- Ensuring all content captures the humorous, insightful tone of the site
- Building interactive content and pages in line with Web 2.0
