Pediatrician 2 positions (1 Mbeya/ 1 Mwanza)

POSITION SUMMARY:

In collaboration with Baylor-Tanzania Associate Clinical Director, oversee the day-to-day operations of the Children's Clinical Centre of Excellence (CaE) and provide clinical supervision, technical assistance and capacity building to clinical staff and visiting health professionals in the provision of comprehensive, family-centered pediatric HIVIAIDS care and treatment. The Pediatrician will also support advocacy efforts focusing on the provision of comprehensive pediatric HIV health care at the Zonal Referral Hospitals, COEs and other health facilities throughout the Lake and Southern Highland zones as assigned, including participation in zonal, regional and/or national committees and working groups.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Masters of Medicine in Pediatrics or the equivalent from a recognized and accredited medical school

• Registered with the Tanganyika Medical Council as a Medical Doctor with at least two years working experience

• Excellence in general pediatric medical care, with training in HIV care and treatment

• Excellent communication and writing skills in both English and Kiswahili

• Proficiency in the use of computers and computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

Duties and Responsibilities

• Coordination and scheduling of clinical staff activities

• On a daily basis, assess and revise staff assignments as necessary to assure adequate coverage of all clinical activities and to ensure efficient patient flow

• Attend to patients in the pediatric wards of the Zonal Referral Hospital, the Baylor-Tanzania CaE and in outreach facilities throughout the zone

• Provide education, training and mentorship to medical trainees and health professionals in general pediatrics and family-centered pediatric HIVIAIDS care

• Provide technical assistance to health care providers in pediatric and general HIVIAIDS prevention, diagnosis, care, and treatment both within the CaE as well as in health facilities throughout the zone

• Participation in clinical care reporting efforts and the analysis of service delivery data to ensure the provision of the highest quality, pediatric HIV care possible

• Actively participate in Continuing Medical Education (CME), case conferences, and other meetings in all clinical and educational settings

• Other specific tasks as assigned
