POSITION PURPOSE: To oversee activities of nursing staff providing HIV/AIDS nursing care and supportive care services to children and their care providers attending the Children's Clinical Center of Excellence (COE) in Mbeya or Mwanza, and to support nurse training activities conducted through the Baylor-Tanzania program.
QUALIFICATIONS
1. Registered nurse with a minimum of 5 years clinical experience, preferably in paediatrics and with experience in a leadership role
2. Registered with Tanganyika Nurses and Midwives Council
3. Training in HIV/AIDS from a recognized institution
4. Excellent communication and writing skills in both English- and Kiswahili with the ability to motivate, lead, and work as part of a team
5. Experience in using computers and computer programs such as MS Word and Excel spreadsheet a plus
TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• To oversee clinical activities provided by Baylor-Tanzania nursing staff
• To perform administrative duties related to nursing staff and nursing care provided at the COE and through outreach activities, including nursing staff scheduling
• To monitor COE patient flow and make adjustments as required
• To oversee and ensure that patient triage activities are working effectively
• To forecast, monitor, and report on sundries and lab supplies use
• To assist in drafting and implementing policies regarding nursing care and clinic activities, such as patient flow, patient triage and occupational health and safety
• To support nurse training activities conducted through the Baylor-Tanzania program
• To participate in discussions with partners on clinic operations, and assists in the documenting of formal agreements
• To participate in clinical research planning where such research relates to the operations of the clinic
