CHIEF ACCOUNTANT (CA) Job Ref: PTF-CA07/10
Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Accountant is responsible for adherence of financial policies and ensuring proper internal controls. He/she will ensure the implementation of financial regulations as well as timely provision of financial reports and cash management.
Key Responsibilities
Providing advice to the Chief Executive Officer on PTF investment opportunities and performing any other duties assigned by him;
Preparation of monthly management reports and financial statements i.e balance sheets, cash flows, income and expenditure statement as per the financial policy;
Preparation of all statutory deductions and contributions such as; NSSF and PAYEE, including salary payments and allowances;
Maintaining accounting records and proper books of accounts, including donor accounts, head quarters fund transfers and financial transactions; Preparation and payment of monthly PTF bank loans and instalments
Implementation of PTF internal control framework policies, including matters related to financial affairs and banking issues; and Verification and approving all financial transactions and expenditures as per the PTF financial policy.
Key qualifications experience and competencies
Bachelors degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or any other relevant field;
A Master Degree Finance, Accounting and Business Administration would be an added advantage; CPA(l) or equivalent;
5 years experience in accounting, micro finance and/or financial duties with a reputable financial organisation; 3 of which must be In a managerial position or supervisory capacity;
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to develop team work;
Effective communication skills coupled with the ability to clearly explain technical financial information; Excellent analytical and decision making skills and logical approach;
In-depth knowledge of micro-finance principles and banking practices
High level of computer proficiency
The above position requires individuals with excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact professionally with diverse groups of people. The right candidate must possess strong verbal and written communication skills in Kiswahili and English. In addition he/she must be an effective team player and able to meet strict deadlines.
