ILRI’s Biotechnology Theme seeks to recruit a Research Technician to work in a BMZ-funded project on contagious bovine pleuropneumonia.
Job Description:
- Produce Monoclonal Antibodies (MAbs) specific for Mycoplasma mycoides for BMZ project on CBPP
- Develop ELISA-type assay for monitoring antibody responses and screening MAbs
- Purification of antibodies
- Maintenance and storage of ILRI’s hybridoma panels
- In vitro culture of mycoplasma
- A Bachelor of Science degree from a technical college or a university
- Experience with monoclonal antibody production
- Experience with sterile cultures of mammalian cells, parasites and bacteria
- Experience with basic immunological techniques, such as antibody purification, ELISA, flow cytometry
- Computer literacy and confidence with working in Word and Excel or database management
- The ability to deliver a seminar about his/her work and write technical procedures for publications
- Ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and to function in an international team environment
- He/she will have good organizational skills and at times be expected to cope with a heavy workload
