World Council of Credit Unions (WOCCU) Kenya Career Opportunities

WOCCU Kenya is currently looking for short term personnel (8 months) to fulfill (2) positions in accounting and IT system manager.

Accountant/ bookkeeper

Required Background

An Accountant with at least CPA Part II book-keeping with SACCO and experience with accounting software on data entry, closing day procedures, preparing financial statements.

The main duties will be to help in converting of small SACCOs from manual to computerized system.

Required Skills and Attributes
  • Capture small SACCO transactions into accounting software;
  • Capacity to learn and train SACCO bookkeepers on the accounting system and financial management skills.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial statements
  • Excellent MS office Skills with emphasis on excel
  • Knowledge of SACCO Accounting, SACCO Reporting Requirements and International Accounting Standards.
  • Should have at least 2 years of experience in bookkeeping with small SACCO
  • B.com - Accounting option Degree holders have an added advantage.
IT System Administrator

Required Skills
  • Ability to solve problems quickly and automate processes.
  • A solid understanding of an operating system and networking computing environment concepts; principles of routing, client/server programming, design of consistent network-wide file system layouts.
  • Design, implement, and maintain systems to host the Financial software for customers;
  • Work with software development team to understand the capabilities and limitations of each software release and handle upgrade processes without service interruption.
  • Proactively assess hosting system performance and reliability, and work with the technical team to improve the system well in advance of problems;
  • Manage the design, implementation, testing, and deployment of infrastructure projects to ensure their timely and reliable completion;
  • Design, implement and test system administration automation software to automate routine tasks;
  • Train other system administrators, programmers, and other staff in systems and procedures used to provide financial services.
  • Ability to program in an administrative language.
Required Background
  • More than 3 years of previous system administration experience.
  • A degree in computer science or a related field.
  • Extensive programming background in any applicable language.
  • Manages a large, complex site or network.
  • Familiarity with security technologies, such as SSL, software firewalls, and VPN a plus.
  • Provides technical lead and/or supervises system administrators, system programmers.
