Voluntary Service Overseas (VSO) is an international federation of member organizations working in development through volunteers to fight poverty and disadvantage.
VSO Jitolee is a member of the VSO federation based in Nairobi with an East African regional mandate to promote volunteerism and recruit skilled professionals from Kenya and Uganda to serve as volunteers in VSO programmes in 44 countries in Africa, Asia, the Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean.
In addition, VSO Jitolee contributes to Kenya’s national development through international volunteers who work with local partners across the country. VSO Jitolee is an independent INGO registered in Kenya and governed by a local board.
We are looking for a highly motivated young Kenyan with basic understanding of project management concepts and implementation to provide short term support to one of our projects.
The project focus is capacity building for Early Assessment Resource Centres (EARCs) for children with disability across 13 districts in Kenya.
Period: 4 months
Assignment:
- Provide guidance and support EARCs in reporting and accounting for the funds disbursed
- Ensure effective and timely implementation of activities and achievement of desired results
- Carry out monitoring activities and prepare related reports and input into the monthly reports
- Support the review of project reports and ensure accurate information
- Coordinate the review of case studies and lessons learned in the program
- Work with and support volunteers in taking forward assignments in the specific component areas
- Consolidate the reports from the districts for the PM

- Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in social studies.
- At least 1 year relevant experience including project cycle management, research and monitoring and Evaluation of projects.
- Administrative and organisational ability, ideally, the candidate will have worked at community level, and be familiar with participatory methodology.
- Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications
- Good written and oral communication with strong people skills with the ability to network, and influence key stakeholders. Aware of diversity and is specifically disability sensitive
- Self drive and able to work effectively with minimum supervision
- A good team player with a high degree of personal commitment and integrity, enthusiasm and the ability to give and receive feedback
- An appreciation of the ethos of volunteerism.
