Vacancies at Empowerment Microfinance Institution (EMI), Southern Sudan

Introduction
Empowerment Microfinance Institution (EMI) was initiated in 2009 as a microcredit component of AMURT (International) integrated humanitarian and development programme aimed at improving the welfare of women and youth in Northern Bahr el Ghazal (NBEG) state and its environs, in Southern Sudan. 

EMI is seeking to recruit a qualified, dynamic, self motivated individual to fill the position of
1. General Manager who will also serve as the organisation’s General Manager

Reporting directly to the EMI MFI Board the General Manager will be responsible for the strategy formulation, planning, organizing daily activities of EMI

Specific Duties and Responsibilities
Program management, strategic planning, reporting
·    Manage the process of hiring, orientation and monitoring all head office personnel and branch managers accordingly
·    Develop business growth and marketing strategies hinged on surpassing the group and individual loans targets without compromising on portfolio quality.
·    Meet program goals for loan disbursement and repayment as per the EMI MFI business plan to maintain high repayment quality and low portfolio at Risk.
·    Work with the Micro Finance Consultant to ensure the institutional policies and procedures are developed and implemented.
·    Prepare and report regular reports to Board of Directors
·    Prepare narrative, statistical and financial reports for the donors on a bi annual and annual basis.  Reports should meet the needs of both donor and EMI MFI program.

Qualifications
1.    A bachelor’s degree from a recognised institution preferably in Business Administration, Finance, Economics or related fields
2.    At least three years experience in Micro finance business of which two of those should have been in a similar position
3.    Extensive experience and understanding of the microfinance sector dynamics and trends. 
4.    Experience in computer skills; word processing and spreadsheet software experience required

2. Branch Manager (2)
Reporting to the General Manager s/he will be responsible for the business growth, service delivery and the general operations of the Deposit Taking branch.

Duties & Responsibilities:
·    Provide leadership, training, supervision loan appraisal and approval, delegate day to day operations to the branch team.
·    Build business relations and grow the branch loan portfolio.
·    Coordinating, supervising and monitoring performance of loan portfolio, staff and evaluating staff training needs.
·    Promoting community participation in credit and development of business skills
·    Supervising loan repayment, receipting and posting into debtors ledger
·    Facilitating capacity building of clients and credit officers, provision of technical support and issuing feedback to Head Office
·    Liaison with other departmental heads on matters related to management of the branch
·    Ensuring the provision of high quality and timely services to customers.
·    Monitor the branch revenue on a monthly basis and ensure that the branch performance is within the organization’s overall budget.
    Qualifications and experience:
·    Diploma in Co-operative Management, Business Administration, Banking and finance or any Business related field.
·    Knowledge on microfinance operations for at least 3 years
·    At least 3 years proven branch management experience in a medium to large financial institution.
·    Strong credit analysis, communication skills and team leadership.
 3. Accountant
Reporting to the General Manager Operations, s/he will be responsible for all financial aspects of the MFI and ensuring that all financial policies and procedures are met
  Duties & Responsibilities:
·    Coordinate the preparation of EMI financial reports, allocation of costs ensuring compliance to organization and donor policies.
·    Management of the organization accounting software in accordance with organization policies and procedures.
·    Manage the organization bank records and reconciliations in line with organization policies.
·    To work with the management team in developing annual budgets and forecasts.
·    Coordinate cash forecasting to ensure accuracy and timely submission of reports to donors.
·    Provide financial training to staff to ensure understanding of EMI and donor policies and procedures.
·    Manage MFI and donor financial audits to ensure recommendations are closed in a timely manner.
·    Preparation of monthly staff payroll.   

Qualifications and experience:
·    University degree in financial management/ Accounting/ CPA 3 holder or equivalent.
·    Minimum 3 years professional accounting, financial and budgetary experience with supervising responsibility of the accounts department.
·    In depth knowledge of the accounting software packages: Quick books, advanced excel and bankers realm.
·    Ability to analyze problems and provide systematic solutions in line with the established policies and procedures.
·    Excellent communication coaching and facilitation skills.
·    Willingness to work in remote setting and undertake wide range of responsibilities according to MFI needs.

4. Credit Supervisors (2)   
Reporting to the Branch Manager, the Credit Supervisors will oversee that credit officers carry out outreach and promotion, clients’ and groups’ mobilization, enhance savings mobilization and internalizing of cohesive credit structures within the groups and ensure effective and efficient credit delivery and recovery

Job Requirements:
Diploma in Business or Diploma in Banking/Credit/Micro-Finance, minimum 2 years working experience in a Micro Finance Institution, must be proficient in MS office tools and excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and presentation skills.

5. Credit Officers (14)
Reporting to the credit supervisor, the Credit Officers will carry out outreach and promotion, clients’ and groups’ mobilization, enhance savings mobilization and internalizing of cohesive credit structures within the groups and ensure effective and efficient credit delivery and recovery among other duties.

Duties and Responsibilities:
·    Extension/training/assessment/Report writing
- Create necessary linkages between EMI and other relevant government and financial   institutions
- Create awareness of the services offered by EMI.
- Identify and recruit potential clients for funding.
- Carry out training sessions to clients on relevant topics as is guided in the EMI           training manual.
- Guide clients during the appraisal of individual loan applications.
- To ensure that all relevant documentation is done before loan is approved.
     -  To disburse all loans ensuring that all loanees understood the contractual
   agreements and duly signed.
- To ensure that all loan documents are filed and stored in safe place.
 
·    Loan follow-up and recoveries.
-To meet clients and ensure that all loans are repaid and money banked to
   EMI bank account.
- To assist clients to update their records and identify any problem that may
   require attention by the management.
- To maintain a health loan portfolio at a scale as shall be prescribed from
   time to time.
·    Report writing
- To submit monthly financial and other reports as required by supervisor.
- To submit monthly expense report as required by supervisor.

  Expected skills
·    Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
·    Ability to work with minimum supervision and poses excellent leadership skills.
·    Good knowledge of microfinance industry trends and practices.
·    Good analytical and reporting skills.
·    Must be self starter and posses excellent presentation skills
 Qualifications:

·    Must have certificate of secondary education and any certificate in business related discipline ( business management or business management)
·    Computer literate.
·    Age 28 years and below.

6. Cash Officers/Tellers (2)

Duties and Responsibilities:
·    Paying and receiving cash and other cash transactions across the counter
·    Input customer transactions in the microfinance software system
·    Attend to customer inquiries across the counter
·    Cash and other transaction reconciliation
Qualifications and experience:
·    Diploma in banking and finance, CPA 2 or equivalent qualification.
·    Two years experience in a busy financial institution in the same capacity
·    Must be computer literate, strong analytical and monitoring skills
·    Be willing to work in remote setting within southern Sudan.
(Nb: Applications from Sudanese nationals preferred.
7. Book keepers (2)
Reporting to the Accountant, the bookkeepers will be responsible for daily account posting of daily transaction as the accounting policies and procedures
     Duties and Responsibilities:
      Use the MFI software to:
·    Record all receipts& expenses as they occur.
·    Post cash book
·    Post individual ledger accounts.
·    Conduct cash and bank reconciliations.
Desired Qualifications
·    Diploma in banking and finance, CPA 2 or equivalent qualification.
·    Two years experience in a busy financial institution in the same capacity
·    Must be computer literate
·    Be detailed and have strong analytical and monitoring skills.
·    Be willing to work in remote setting within southern Sudan.
