Key Duties and Responsibilities

Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Conducting scheduled and unscheduled inspections of all the plant, machinery and building facilities within the group to ensure smooth operations.
- Overseeing the implementation of planned preventive maintenance schedule for all the units within the group and ensuring that all records are properly kept.
- Developing budgets for capital expenditure projects, energy (fuel) budgets and reviewing maintenance operating budgets.
- Ensuring that maintenance operations and projects are accomplished within allocated budgets.
- Directs emergency response initiatives and reviewing disaster preparedness policies.
- Ensuring that energy and cost saving initiatives are in place and are being followed.
- Avail and maintain good quality operating stock, materials and working tools.
- Co-ordinate and supervise renovation and new installation projects within the group.
- Advises on quality standards and specifications for new plant and machinery.
- Negotiate and review new and existing contracts to ensure quality and timely deliveries.
- Ensures compliance with existing safety, health and environmental regulations in accordance with government laws.
- Repair and maintain all company vehicles and advise on motor vehicles status and replacement decisions.
- Ensures that he has a comprehensive knowledge and is aware of the trends in the engineering profession at all times with a view to making recommendations for improvements where necessary.
Academic Qualifications and Competencies:
- A Bachelor's degree in mechanical/electrical engineering or related engineering fields.
- Professional registration or membership of a professional body will be an added advantage.
- Highly computer literate and demonstrate competence in application packages.
- Demonstrate competence in building services, refrigeration and air-conditioning, plant maintenance, automotive engineering and project management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills (articulate) coupled with good listening and critical reasoning skills.
- Highly organized, conscientious, detail oriented with good problem solving, analytical and decision making skills.
- Friendly and approachable attitude are essential characteristics of the candidate along with a YES WE CAN attitude.
- Experience: 5 years and above in a similar position.
