Project Manager - Business Member Organizations (BMO) (SB5)

UNDP Kenya would like to recruit a Project Manager — Business Member Organizations
(BMO) (SB5) for the Poverty Reduction Unit.

Background

In line with Kenya’s Private Sector Development Strategy (PSDS), the support to Business Member Organizations and Associations that represent the micro and small enterprise sector (MSME) is seen as a key intervention that will allow businesses and sectors to better organize themselves and advocate for their members towards improved policies and regulations.

This current project is supported by UNDP and the European Union under the European Development Framework (EDfl. The “Project Manager - BMO” supports the work of the Donor Coordination Unit and wil be placed at the Ministry of Trade.

The incumbent is responsible for guidance and support to grantees, disbursement of funds following UNDP procedures, and monitoring and evaluation activities.

Summary of Key Functions
  1. Support the ASMEP PMU in implementing the BMO component, raise awareness and encourage proposals at the field level in close coordination with the ASMEP pilot BICs (in Kisumu, Kakamega, Embu and Mombasa);
  2. Efficient management of grant cycle, incl. adequate and timely procurement of services and disbursement of funds;
  3. Field supervision of activities, identification of partners/grantees and support to the development of MSE associations and their capacity development;
  4. Organize review meetings and business processes;
  5. Implementation of internal and external M&E Tools;
  6. Documentation of lessons learnt
Qualifications
  • A Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, Economics, Business Administration or other related fields.
Experience
  1. At least 5 years of relevant experience in MSME sector, project management and work with community based entrepreneurial groups especially around BMO formation, support and advocacy.
  2. Experience in implementation of Monitoring and Evaluation tools and usage of office software packages.
  3. EDF Project Implementation experience in Kenya or East Africa.
Language Requirements
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Fluency in Swahili would be an advantage.
