Job Title: County Director, Partnership for an HIV-Free Generation (HFG) - Kenya

Reports to: HIV-Free Generation, Inc. and AIDSTAR Awardee

Job Summary:

The country director will be responsible for articulating and implementing the vision and strategic plan of the Partnership for an HIV-Free Generation – Kenya (HFG).

S/he will work in close collaboration with the global secretariat of HIV-Free, Inc., the AIDSTAR awardee, the PEPFAR Coordinating office in Kenya and PEPFAR in Washington, DC, as well as with PEPFAR implementing partners, the Government of Kenya, the private sector, and other development partners.

The country director will have overall accountability for coordinating inputs from various private sector partner organizations, identifying and brokering new partnerships, and securing additional resources (financial and in-kind) to support HFG programs and operations in-country.

S/he will also provide administrative oversight of the HFG office, and manage and develop new and existing staff. The country director is expected to facilitate the growth and development of HIV-Free - Kenya with the goal of becoming a fully autonomous, non-governmental organization within the next three to five years.

This will be a performance-based contract with specific deliverables and outcome targets that will be reviewed annually.

Requirements: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Demonstrated exceptional partnership development, stakeholder management and facilitation skills.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in coalition building and managing corporate social responsibility and/or public-private partnerships.
  • Experience in communications, advocacy, and/or marketing.
  • Demonstrated capabilities in strategic planning and program management of complex, multistakeholder initiatives.
  • At least 5 years experience leading senior and mid-level teams, and demonstrated capacity for developing, supporting and mentoring program staff.
  • Demonstrated understanding of youth culture in sub-Saharan Africa generally, and in Kenya specifically.
  • Demonstrated sensitivity to culture and gender and their impact on HIV prevention.
  • Demonstrated understanding of HIV, public health and/or wider international development issues is highly desirable.
  • Must have established links with networks of private-sector entities, government ministries, and development agencies.
  • Demonstrated skills as a team player, team builder, and problem solver.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and projects at the same time.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English and excellent presentation skills required.
  • Fluency in Kiswahili a plus.
Minimum Requirements: Education and Experience
  • Masters degree in a business, social sciences, public health or related fields.
  • A minimum of 10 years senior level experience working in a for-profit, private-sector company, or development organization, with experience in both local and international markets.
