Water Resources Management Authority (WRMA) Jobs in Kenya

The Water Resources Management Authority (WRMA) was established under the Water Act.2002. The Act. 2002 provides the foundation for the implementation of the National Water Resources Management Strategy, whose overall goal is to meet the water, related Millennium Development Goals by 2015.

WRMA is the lead agency in water resources management and its overall development objectives is to ensure a rational and effective framework to meet the water needs for national economic development, poverty alleviation, environmental protection and social well being of the people of Kenya.

Applications are invited for the following posts in Water Resources Management Authority

1. Project Officer

Duties and Responsibility

The Project officer will be deployed in WRMA’s Tana Regional office to coordinate the activities of the Natural Resources management project with specific reference to the following duties:-
  • Preparing proposals for WDC funding.
  • Coordinating Development and implementation of SCMPs with the Sub Regional managers
  • Carry out desk appraisals for WDC applications from the Sub Regional Managers for transmission to the WRMA Hqs for approvals before funds release.
  • Carry out SCMP development quality audit for WRUA projects under implementation
  • Contracts preparation and administration
  • Keeping a diary of the activities.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
  • Fulfilling the Performance Contract as signed and displaying summary of the water rights targets and achievements in the office notice board.
Requirements for appointment
  • The candidate should have at least a Bachelors degree in B.S.C Civil engineering or it equivalent.
  • Masters/Post graduate qualification in relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • At least five (5) year experience in contract preparation and management, Planning and budgeting.
  • Experience in working with community development projects and CBO generic skills would be an added advantage.
  • The candidate should be computer literate with ability to demonstrate knowledge of at least Micro soft office tools.
2. Water Resources Planning Officer

Duties and Responsibility

The WR planning officer will report to the Technical manager and responsible for the following duties:-
  • Planning and Development of investment and Business Plans for Water Resources management programs
  • Contracts preparation and administrations
  • Obtaining reports from departments, projects and development partners for purposes of Monitoring and Evaluating progress.
  • Preparation of programs reports
  • Keeping a diary of the activities.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
  • Fulfilling the Performance Contract as signed and displaying summary of the targets and achievements in the office notice board.
Requirements for appointment
  • The candidate should have at least a Bachelors degree in B.S.C Civil engineering or it equivalent.
  • Masters/Post graduate qualification in relevant field will be an added advantage
  • At least five (5) year experience in contract preparation and management, Planning and budgeting.

3. Regional Water Conservation Officer

Duties and Responsibility

The Regional water conservation officer will be deployed in WRMA Regional office to coordinate the activities of the water conservation structures. The Officer will be responsible to the Regional Technical Manager for the following duties:-
  • Preparation of designs, drawings and Bill of quantities for water retaining structures
  • Preparation of a data base of existing water conservation structures in the Region.
  • Identifying and developing the prohibited/restricted activities within the ecosystem of every pan and dam.
  • Computation of the available water resources and water demand and come up with a water balance for the Region.
  • Undertaking storage sites exploration and mapping
  • Updating storage, water conservation and control drainage area maps as well as GIS Map overlays.
  • Carry out annual inspection of existing water conservation structures and preparation of annual status report
  • Inspection of water conservation structures under implementation and their approval.
  • Inspection and approval of water intake structures for permit processing
  • Sensitizing the communities on appropriate rainwater harvesting technologies.
  • Keeping a diary of the activities.
  • Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time.
  • Fulfilling the Performance Contract as signed and displaying summary of the water conservation regional targets and achievements in the office notice board.
Requirements for appointment
  • The candidate should have at least a Bachelors degree in B.S.C Civil Engineering.
  • Masters/Post graduate qualification in water relevant field will be an added advantage.
  • At least five (5) year experience in contract preparation and management, Planning and budgeting.
  • Experience in working with community development projects and CBO generic skills would be an added advantage.
  • The candidate should be computer literate with ability to demonstrate knowledge of at least Micro soft office tools.
