Project Field Accountant and Livestock Procurement Officer Jobs in Kenya

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates for the following open positions based in Lokichoggio in Turkana, Northern Kenya with contract duration of 1 year (with 3 months probation period)

1) Project Field Accountant

Reporting to the Project Manager with the following key responsibilities:
  • Oversee the financial and accounting management of the project at field level;
  • Budgeting, accounting, cash control and cash bank transactions/reconciliation;
  • In charge of all payments upon approval by the Project Manager;
  • In charge of office and travel logistics;
  • Responsible for the supervision of local support staff assigned to the office and field activities;
  • Ensure application of Terra Nuova guidelines and procedures;
  • Responsible for the project inventory;
  • Assist the Project Manager in the preparation of financial plans and reports.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, accounting or equivalent from a recognized institution; minimum three years experience in accounting preferably with international NGOs.
  • Essential: computer literacy in MS office (word, excel & outlook – this will be tested), willingness to reside in Turkana (Lokichoggio) and to travel to arid areas of Northern Kenya.

2) Livestock Procurement Officer

Reporting to the General Manager, with the following key responsibilities:
  • Procurement and delivery of quality livestock to the slaughterhouse;
  • Development of a long term plan for continuous supply of good quality livestock;
  • Monitoring the running of livestock marketing centres in consultation with the General Manager and the Cooperative Management;
  • Networking with government veterinary services to ensure maintenance of healthy animals and quality livestock;
Qualifications:
  • Diploma in animal health or production, OR equivalent from a recognized institution, must have knowledge of Turkana pastoral areas, age between 25 to 40 years; willingness to reside in Turkana (Lokichoggio) and to travel to arid areas of Northern Kenya.
  • Knowledge of Turkana Language will be an added advantage.
