Nathan  Associates Inc (www.nathaninc.com),  a Washington DC-based global leader in economic development consulting,  requests applications from qualified individuals for a six-month  assignment on the East Africa Corridor Diagnostic Study (CDS) co-funded  by USAID and DfID.
The CDS has been designed to provide a clear sense of the costs and benefits of different interventions along the Northern and Central Corridors of East Africa and provide a platform for enhanced coordination between international donors.
It will also initiate a sustainable public-private dialogue by highlighting corridor development solutions, including public-private partnerships (PPPs) and promoting mechanisms for private sector advocacy of corridor reforms.

Communications Specialist
Specific responsibilities will include:

Communications Specialist
Specific responsibilities will include:
- Development of website content;
 - drafting electronic stakeholder updates on project progress;
 - liaising with film production company on the development of several short films focused on project highlights;
 - development of informational leaflets and other communications materials;
 - advising on media relations and draft press releases;
 - assisting in stakeholder meetings and ensuring a targeted, coherent and consistent message from all USAID, DfID staff and partners.
 
Position is based in  Kenya. Some regional travel may be required. 
Requirements:
Requirements:
- 5-10 years experience working in communications and outreach, preferably in the context of donor-funded economic growth projects;
 - Experience working in an international development context in Africa;
 - Outstanding and proven writing skills;
 - Ability to articulate complex issues and disseminate information to a variety of target audiences
 - Fluency in English;
 - Familiarity with trade and transport issues strongly preferred;
 - Ability to work well in partnerships involving a wide variety of businesses and organizations;
 - Ability to manage several tasks simultaneously and to work effectively under pressure is a must, as is the ability to take initiative and be creative.
 - Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of expertise.
