Manager, Spend Analysis Vacancy in Kenya

Our client is a leader in the telecommunications field with a foothold all over Africa.
The company seeks to recruit a dynamic individual for the position of manager, spend analysis
Position Title: Manager, Spend Analysis
Reports to:
Head Spend Analysis, CAPEX/OPEX planning, Monitoring & Control
Basic Purpose: The role will essentially be responsible for ensuring regular monitoring and analysis of tower sites project implementation & maintenance of operating cost & capital expenditure to check deviation from established budgets & derive synergies. This will entail leading cost efficiency initiatives to optimize spends.
Principle Accountabilities:
Expected End Results: Capex / Opex Spend monitoring
Major Activities:
  • Develop CAPEX forecasting models
  • Keep track of CAPEX and OPEX proposals across all Opcos
  • Ensure timely order placement against approved CAPEX
  • Monitor spends vis-à-vis approved budgets
  • Analyze past CAPEX and spends data to derive trends and identify deviations
  • Identify opportunity areas and action plans for cost reduction
Expected End Results: Design and implement spend analysis processes
Major Activities:
  • Develop processes and strategies to monitor spends in operations
  • Establish key performance metrics (in terms of savings, SLA tracking, statuary compliances etc) and benchmarks relating to supply chain planning
  • Measure the actual performance against goals on regular basis and present results to Management
Expected End Results: Conduct cost benchmarking
Major Activities:
  • Engage in costs and quality benchmarking through informal market research, study of consumption patterns, quality and cost interrelationships
  • Develop cost benchmarks by checking rates given to other clients and competitors by vendors
Expected End Results: Manage cost efficiency initiatives and drive process improvements
Major Activities:
  • Drive financial savings across all Opcos by recommending improvement projects and other initiatives
  • Monitor successful progress and implementation of cost reduction projects across all Opcos.
  • Evaluate & improve processes of complete supply chain (warehousing, inventory, and logistics) function for all Opcos
  • Lead reengineering efforts as it relates to supply chain planning and execution systems
Expected End Results: Identify and implement tools for effective data analysis and warehousing
Major Activities:
  • Identify & implement system tools needed in the existing system
  • Process and utilize computer software programs (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Access) for data analysis/MIS and reporting
  • Analyze database design & recommend changes for optimization against function needs
Major Challenges:
  • Ability to operate in a multi cultural, multi country environment
  • Manage expectations of multiple stakeholders – partners, vendors, dealers
  • Manage complex assignments / projects in a different environment
  • Conduct regular CAPEX analysis and making data-supported recommendations due to high impact of a wrong decision
  • Effective & accurate data analysis from fragmented data existing across diverse systems across the African continent. Lack of a unified source of obtaining data might lead to delays in evaluating the data.
  • Timely sourcing of accurate data due to need for monitoring remote sites spread across Africa
Essential Skills & Knowledge: Education
  • Be in possession of relevant post graduate qualification such as CA / MBA/Post graduate degree with a diploma in IT
Relevant Experience:
  • 5-7 years experience in analysing CAPEX for supply chain and process mapping in telecom industry
