Manager of Administration and Corporate Services Addis Ababa/ Ethiopia and Dakar/Senegal

JOb Summary:

The International Food Policy Research Institute (IFPRI) seeks a qualified candidate to serve as Manager of Administration and Corporate Services for a two year, fixed-term, exempt, renewable appointment. This position will be based at one of IFPRI’s established offices in either Addis Ababa Ethiopia or Dakar, Senegal. This successful candidate will be an integral part to the successful operations of the office.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall coordination of administrative matters between IFPRI’s headquarters in Washington, D.C. and the IFPRI Regional offices in Addis Ababa and Dakar, and will be based at one of those locations. The successful candidate will also provide support to other IFPRI projects and offices in Africa including related administrative aspects of current and new corporate partnerships in Africa. He/she will provide administrative management, financial and accounting support to the research staff. The successful candidate will anticipate and manage organizational resources to meet the needs and goals of operations. The incumbent will report to the Director of Finance and Administration in Washington on all aspects of operations as well as provide direct support to the Directors of the Addis Ababa and Dakar regional offices on operational matters.

Essential Duties:

Specific tasks include but are not limited to:
• Managing the financial and administrative operations of Addis Ababa or/and Dakar offices, including budgets, facilities management and IT.
• Monitoring of projects in African locations on an as required basis
• Works closely with the key administrative departments at IFPRI for Accounting, Human Resources, Computer Services and Facilities/Office Services.
• Acts as a liaison between headquarters in Washington D.C. and the local offices.
• Reviews monthly financial reports and assets formulation of budgets and capital plans for the Addis and Dakar offices.

Required Skills:
• Minimum of five years business management experience.
• Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work effectively with all levels of organizations, including regional partners and donors.
• Ability to work autonomously, yet keep others informed.
• Ability to work in a multicultural setting.
• Excellent attention to details.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in an international organization a plus.
• CPA or equivalent Business degree in Finance and Administration
