Background:
Creative Associates International, Inc. (Creative) is seeking a Procurement Manager for an anticipated USAID-funded grants-based project to support the government and people of Somalia by promoting stabilizing influences through the implementation of small activities and grants.
Position Summary:
The Procurement Manager will manage and procure in-kind support for all grants.
S/he will determine the most reasonable, fair, and expeditious procurement alternative for each grant.
S/he will work with local, regional, and international vendors and service providers to procure commodities and services, inspect/accept goods, verify services and monitor the use of the goods and services.
The Procurement Manager will maintain the contractor’s commodity management system and will supervise Contractor Procurement Specialists.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Five years’ procurement experience in Kenya.
- Knowledge of USAID procurement procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to solve difficult procurement problems and issues.
- Familiar with commodity management tracking systems.
- Excellent oral and written English and communication skills;
- Strong organizational skills.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Previous experience working in East Africa;
- Experience in conflict, post-conflict, or transitional state environments highly desirable;
