The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF), an international conservation organization is seeking a qualified, talented and motivated Administrative Assistant.
The successful candidate will be an integral member of AWF’s Administration team, executing logistics and managing the Arusha office in the AWF’s Maasai Steppe Heartland.
This position reports to the Senior Finance and Administration Officer and will be based in Arusha Tanzania.
The successful candidate would:
- Provide administrative support to the heartland by ensuring continued implementation of AWF administrative policies and procedures.
- Organize logistics, such as travel arrangements, workshops and seminars.
- Manage Heartland vehicle fleet, and drivers.
- Manage and negotiate Heartland procurements, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Maintain vendor records, ensure proper delivery of goods, and negotiate favorable terms and conditions for the Heartland.
- Prepare and present monthly report on administrative issues to Senior Finance and Administration Officer.
- Serve as office receptionist.
Qualifications:
- Experience in Office Administration or Diploma in Business Administration or related field
- At least 3-5 years experience in NGO sector
- Demonstrated interest and understanding of key administrative functions ranging from insurance management, tenancy agreements, procurement and cross border logistics
- Proactive nature of problem solving
- Familiarization in dealing with government departments, revenue authorities and immigration departments
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritization and commitment to AWF mission.
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Quick learner / Fast adaptor with high level of flexibility
- Ability to take initiative and to work with minimal supervision
- Excellent organizational aptitude and coordinating ability
- Ability to assess and react appropriately to changing circumstances

- Ability to work as part of a team in a multicultural environment
- Computer literacy – proficiency in Microsoft Office
