Description
The International Rescue Committee serves refugees and communities affected by oppression or violent conflict worldwide. Scope of Work:
The HR Partner (HRP) will be based in Nairobi and will oversee the HR management of specific international regional areas and will be the main point of contact for managers and employees in those regions. SIhe will be responsible for the workforce assessment and planning, retention and career path efforts, employee relations issues and staff development initiatives. The HRP will also support building the capacity of the HR function in the region. This position includes some travel to IRC offices.

Responsibilities
HR Best Practices and Support:
  • Work with internal partners to articulate IRC’s employee policies & procedures and participate in monitoring and strengthening these policies and procedures:
  • Provide effective guidance and support to supervisors on employee relations issues, performance management program, compensation/benefits issues, promotions/changes in status, and general HR issues:
  • Ensure the new hire process and IRC’s on-boarding program, lRCconnect, meet organizational goals and are implemented in region:
  • Manage and resolve complex code of conduct issues through effective, thorough and objective investigations:
  • Maintain in depth knowledge of legal requirements related to day-to-day management and HR compliance issues:
  • Support HQ and in-country recruiters In Identifying new sources of talent.
Organizational Development and Talent Management:
  • Partner with Human Resources Senior Organizational Partner, supervisors and HR recruiters to manage and develop IRCs talent and create career paths for IRC’s highest-performing staff:
  • In partnership with the organizational development and learning unit, support the development of a comprehensive staff development strategy for region and work with In-country HR point person to implement strategy:
  • Identify training/coaching needs for region:
  • Participate In the development and presentation of HR’s management/best practices training.
Build Capacity of HR Function:
  • Orient new in-country HR staff:
  • Train in-country HR staff on HR policy, procedures and best practices:
  • Work with in-country HR staff to develop their own HR plans/programs and provide guidance on implementing these plans/programs;
Other duties as assigned

Requirements:
  • Bachelors Degree in HR or related field; Masters Degree desired:
  • Minimum 4-6 years progressive HR work experience;
  • International work experience or experience working in a multi-cultural setting is strongly preferred:
  • Previous experience as an HR business partner strongly desired;
  • Ability to travel internationally:
  • Proficiency in French is a plus:
  • Strong working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including employee relations, performance management, compensation and benefits and organizational development;
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively and diplomatically manage employee relationships;
  • Proven problem solving and customer service skills: the ability to successfully provide support to staff and guide managers;
  • Effective people management skills: the ability to lead staff and promote productivity in a pleasant work environment;
  • Solid organizational skills: the ability to multi-task and work we?? under pressure in a fast-paced team environment;
  • Flexible work attitude: the ability to work productively in a team environment & independently and to respond rapidly to evolving situations, yet remain productive and focused;
  • Proven training skills; the desire to develop and implement successful training sessions;
  • Good Computer skills: facility with MS Word, Excel, and email/internet software. Extensive knowledge of and experience with HRIS systems is highly desirable.
