Responsible to the Principal Research Officer, the duties and responsibility of an officer in this position include:
- provision of non-partisan professional research assistance and analysis to Members,
- Committees and staff of the National Assembly;
- providing expert interpretation, explanation and analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of policy options;
- initiating and conducting anticipatory research/analysis on key policy issues
- maintaining a periodically updated inventory of publications on current issues, legislation and major public policy issues/questions
- providing technical back up to parliamentary committees;
- be available for personal consultations in their respective fields of expertise
- any other lawful duties that may be assigned from time to time
- Appointments to the position will be made from applicants who are Masters Degree graduates from a recognized university in any of the following Social Science specialized disciplines:
- Education Management and/or Curriculum Studies; Finance, Trade and Entrepreneurship development;
- satisfactorily served as Research Officer in similar positions in comparable institutions for a minimum of three (3) years in like institutions/organisations and;
- a thorough demonstrable knowledge and understanding of concepts and techniques of professional research, with particular emphasis on public policy analysis, and ability to write in a clear, concise and understandable manner;
- a proactive transformative attitude and willingness to learn and be part of a team handling challenging tasks within strict deadlines;
- excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Internet e.tc.
