Regional Internal Auditor (Mozambique and Madagascar) - Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) Vacancies

The Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) is a private, non-denominational development agency promoting creative and effective solutions to problems that impede social development.
The Aga Khan Foundation) is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Regional Internal Auditor for Mozambique and Madagascar programmes.

Main purpose
Reporting to the Audit Committees of AKF Mozambique, AKF Madagascar and AKF Geneva, the Regional Internal
Auditor is responsible for independent appraisals of all management, programme, financial, operational and all related
activities of both units. S/he provides assurance to the National Committee and the CEOs on risk management.
S/he also assists management by evaluating and reporting to them on the effectiveness of risk management systems.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
The main duties and responsibilities will include:
  • Plan and conduct financial /operational audits and report to the Audit Committees ;
  • Review of all operational aspects of the units , examine the finance and accounting functions, and making recommendations to management for improvements in the units;
  • Continuously assess compliance with national regulatory requirements, established financial and operational policies and procedures and make recommendations for improvement;
  • Assist in developing financial, administrative and risk management policies and procedures as required;
  • Monitor and update the risk management systems;
  • Prepare and issue internal audit reports detailing findings and recommendations in consultation with local management as applicable;
  • Conduct training to develop staff capacities in risk management;
  • Assist with carrying out specific studies as directed by the local audit committee(s) or the CEOs either independently or as part of capacity-building projects within the Network.
Required Qualifications
  • A degree in accounting and /or professional accounting or audit qualifications like CIA, CISA, CPA,ACCA or CGA;
  • At least five years of audit experience and specifically in a reputable audit firm or development organisation;
  • Strong accounting, financial analysis, organisational and administrative skills;.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft programmes especially Excel and Power point and ability to interpret and present reports in graphs and other use friendly methods;
  • Knowledge of donor/grant processes and procedures will be desirable;
  • Diplomacy and sensitivity to different cultural situations is critical;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English .Knowledge of French and Portuguese would be beneficial;
  • The position requires a level of flexibility and willingness to undertake travel including in difficult areas.
