General Manager and Commercial Manager - Kahuti Water & Sanitation Company Jobs


Kahuti Water & Sanitation Company is one of the Water Service Providers contracted by Tana Water Services Board (TWSB) as an agent to provide water and sanitation services in Kangema and Murang’a East Districts.


To strengthen our team of staff, we invite applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates with excellent credentials to fill the following positions.


General Manager


Reporting to the Board of Directors, the General Manager will be expected to provide overall direction to the Company through planning, directing and coordinating the activities of the Company.


He or She shall provide strong and inspirational leadership to the Company to facilitate the achievement of the set performance goals and objectives of the Company and in particular improving service delivery to all Customers and stakeholders.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide advice to the Board of Directors on matters related to the operation of the company.
  • Implementing Board of Directors decisions / policies and promoting effective communication between the Board and all levels of management.
  • Facilitate development and implementation of appropriate long term and short term strategies and policies.
  • Ensuring achievement of the Company’s financial and operating goals and objectives
  • Fostering a conducive corporate culture that promotes strong ethical practices and good governance as well as attracting; retaining and motivating employees
  • To drive the organization culture change agenda in order to inculcate the core values of honesty, integrity, transparency, Accountability and good corporate governance practices.
  • To institute proper internal control systems and procedures to safeguard both the company’s Physical and intangible assets.
  • To oversee and promote best practices in the procurement process of goods and services by ensuring that the laid down procurement regulations and guidelines are strictly complied with.
  • Always Act as the Company’s Principal spokesperson
  • Other adhoc duties as required.
Qualifications:
  • University degree in Civil Engineering (Water and Sanitation) with 5 years experience in the water sector or Higher National Diploma (Water and Sanitation) with 10 years experience in the water sector.
  • Registered with a Professional Body.
  • A team leader with minimum of 5 years of professional experience in running a water department with a proven good and unblemished record.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop and implement Management Systems
  • Demonstrate Understanding of relevant Governance procedures, policies and regulations.
  • Posses high level of integrity and good understanding of corporate governance structures, principles and standards.
  • Highly self-motivated person ethical and results driven individual with demonstratable record of achievement.
  • Strong leadership, organizational and coordination skills
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Be at least 35 years old and not more than 50 years
Commercial Manager
Reporting to the General Manager, the Commercial Manager will be responsible for the efficient and effective Management of financial resources of the KAWASCO Company.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Formulation and implementation of sound financial and accounting policies and procedures.
  • Coordinating budgeting and budgetary controls procedures.
  • Liaise with both internal and external auditors.
  • Preparation, analysis, interpretation and implementation of annual performance contract and the strategic plans and ensure to issues reports on all variances.
  • Ensuring the existence of effective financial systems and controls.
  • Ensuring the procurement and Disposal Act is complied with at all times.
  • Other adhoc duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of commerce degree (Accounting or Business Administration) plus CCP qualifications.
  • CPA(K) or equivalent
  • Demonstrate professional competence in either Financial Management Accounting or Economics.
  • Unquestionable integrity
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive working in a commercially oriented water institution
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Be at least 30 years and not more than 45 years of age.
