Education and Sponsorship Officer – Social Worker
Purpose of the job
- To provide continuous supervision and behavioral interventions for youth within a safe, caring and structured environment.
- To help vulnerable children and youth to grow in mind, body and spirit and to maximize the individual and family well being of children and youth, enabling them to capture their potential and heal from pain through participation and collaboration in order to build a more caring society for all.
- To plan, develop and administer the program to provide educational opportunities for students.
- Relevant Certificate/Degree/Diploma and work experience in Social Work or Education.
- Knowledge of severely emotionally and behaviorally disturbed youth (previous experience preferred).
- The ability to demonstrate responsibility, commitment, and consistency to youth and staff alike in order to create and maintain a safe, supportive and therapeutic environment.
- Excellent Communication Skills
- High level of planning and organizational skills, demonstrated skills in prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines
- Strong communication, analytical and report writing skills with fluency in spoken and written English;
- Knowledge and skills in computing;
- Proven Team Working Skills.

- Create an environment where all children feel they can come to them to express their feelings and discuss any problems they may have.
- The social worker/counsellor is responsible for monitoring the child’s emotional health and behavior, his/her mental and physical well being. They work to build a close and trusting relationship with the children, acting as a caring father/mother figure to improve their social and psychological functioning by communicating constructively and positively, making decisions and solving problems.
- Organizing social events from time to time when planned.
- Maintaining a family profile for each child, they will be responsible for looking at alternatives on how the children in their case study’s can be reintegrated back to their families.
- Make regular visits to the Schools that each child attends and report to Head of Children’s Home and Program Manager on progress of each child.
- Prepare budget and determined allocation of funds for students in sponsorship
- Maintain inventory of school needs of each student and purchase and distribute at appropriate times
- Prepare reports for student sponsorship for relevant parties appraisal and approval.
- Work closely with Schools and institutions that RCC works with and supports to improve educational standards of the same
- Follow up of sponsored students and children which includes attending meetings at schools on behalf of sponsors and liaise with School secretary to send school circulars and student reports to Sponsorship Co-ordinator in Australia
- Submit monthly reports on Officer’s activities
- Provide counseling and guidance as necessary
