Accounts and Administrative Manager: Children Legal Action Network (CLAN) Jobs in Kenya

A leading child rights organization namely, The Children Legal Action Network (CLAN), wishes to employ an Accountant & Administrative Manager at its secretariat based in Nairobi.

Position Title: Accounts and Administrative Manager
Unit: Accounts Department

Reports to: Executive Director
Duty station: Nairobi

Key responsibilities will include:

* Coordinate the preparation of project financial reports by recording receipts and disbursements (ledgers, cash books, vouchers etc) and reconciling data for recurring or special reports eg management, Network, Donor Financial reports and Year-end Reports
* Coordinate the allocation of costs to ensure compliance with the organization and Donor policies
* Management of the organizations accounting software in accordance with the organizations Policies and procedures
* Manage the organizations bank accounts in line with organization policies.
* Work with program/project officers in developing Budgets and eEnsure budgets and budget amendments are properly recorded in the organizations financial systems.
* Coordinate cash forecasting to ensure accuracy and timely submission of reports to donors.
* Ensure financial internal control systems are documented and understood by staff
* Provide financial training to staff to ensure understanding of the organizations and Donor policies and procedures
* Coordinate the process of grant closure with the relevant officers and partners.
* Manage organization and Donor Financial Audits to ensure recommendations are closed in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

* University degree in Financial Management/Accounting, CPA(K) or equivalent
* Minimum of 3 years professional accounting and budgeting experience, with supervisory responsibility of an accounts department.
* In-depth knowledge of accounting software packages eg Sun Systems and or Quick Books, Vision and Advanced Excel
* Experience working with local and government departments and Government financial management regulations would be an advantage.
* Ability to analyze problems and provide systematic solutions in line with established policies/procedures
* Excellent communication, coaching and facilitation skills
* Willingness to work as member of team and to undertake a wide variety of responsibilities according to program needs.
