FINANCIAL CONTROLLER POSITION
SUMMARY OF DUTIES
Typical
• Constantly
- Assures property operations meet internal audit standards and principles of accounting.
- Demonstrate positive leadership characteristics, which inspire employees to meet and exceed
standards.
- Direct the development and implementation of internal control to ensure the security of Gibb’s
Page 1 Farm assets and the accurate recording of assets, liabilities, income, expenses, and other
transactions.
- Confer frequently with the General Manager regarding issues of financial, operations/project
control and trend analysis.
- Promote employee empowerment and the Gibb’s Farm vision.
- Improve the performance of the Accounts & Finance department (see pages 4-5 for current list).
- Consider threats to life/safety, asset and financial conditions.
- Select, train, schedule, supervise, discipline, and counsel employees according to Gibb’s Farm
policies and procedures.
• Frequently
- Assist in directing the preparation of the annual operation and project budgets and subsequent
forecasts.
- Complete other duties as assigned by the General Manager.
- Perform in the capacity of any position supervised.
- Supervise the financial statement preparation, account reconciliation and monthly Controller
Report with requisite analysis.
• Occasionally
- Assist external and internal auditors.
- Attend all mandatory meetings, and chair the following: Monthly Departmental P&L, Forecast,
Cost Control, Accounts Receivable and others as established.- Conduct performance appraisals.
- Responsible for updating & maintaining data processing equipment & computerized systems.

priorities of business demands. Adjust to schedule changes and cover shifts on short notice.

• PACE: Constantly. Must change pace as business demands.
• HIGHLY REPETITIVE WORK: Frequently. Repetitive work especially at the end of each month.
• ATTENTION TO DETAIL: Constantly. Must pay attention to detail to ensure accurate reporting of
information, payment to vendors, and business forecasts.
• OTHER PSYCHOLOGICAL DEMANDS: Frequently. Handle several tasks at one time prior to
completion.
EXPERIENCE
• Degree in accounting or finance.
• Three years experience.
• Required statistics math level.
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other employees.
• Read, write and speak Swahili and English fluently.
REMUNERATION
+/- $2000pm with accommodation and meals plus an annual air-flight home.
