The Basic Education Coordinator reports to the Education Sector Coordinator and will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the EC-funded Basic Education Support in Somalia (BESTS) project.
He/she will coordinate the three components of the project to be implemented by CARE, Save the children, UK and BBC Trust.
He/she will be responsible to ensure that CARE regulations, managerial and financial controls are adhered to, support and provide supervision and direction to project staff and maintain relationships with all participating partners, civil authorities, communities and donors.

Required skills and qualifications
A Bachelors degree in Education or Social Sciences
Minimum 5 years experience at a senior management level preferably in fields related to education management.
Practical experience in project management.
Demonstrated experience in financial and people management skills
Demonstrate report writing skills and communication skills
Understanding and experience in EC donor rules and regulations
Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
Desired skills and qualifications
Masters in Education related field
Work experience in Somalia
Somali language skills are preferred
The position will initially be based in Beletweine, Somalia with possible relocation to Mogadishu.
