JOB TITLE: Website Developer
REPORTS TO: IT Manager
JOB PURPOSE
Responsible for development, execution and evaluation of all Web strategies. The position performs
all website development, research & development, maintenance, stability checks as directed by
management.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Relational Databases
o Understands complex database concepts as well as the implications of different
database designs.
o Effectively employs many different database design techniques.
o Possesses demonstrated work experience with more than one relational database
management system.
Programming Languages
o Demonstrates expert knowledge of structured programming.
o Creates DB Schemas.
o Understands the benefits of the various programming languages.
Architecture
o Possesses significant knowledge of server and internet systems architectures.
o Creates well designed, reusable objects.
o Understands browser specific compatibility issues.
o Understands the benefits of the various design methodologies and object oriented
environments.
Professional Development
o Conducts effective progress evaluations in a timely manner.
o Mentors those with less experience through informal channels.
o Seeks and participates in development opportunities above and beyond required
training.
o Trains other employees through both formal and informal training programs.
Solution Development and Delivery
o Creates efficient and logical databases.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
• Bachelors Degree required. Higher National Diploma may also be accepted.
• At least 3 year's website development experience, preferably within a highly interactive,
service oriented industry.
• High level proficiency in:
o Operating Systems; Linux, Windows
o Web Application Servers; Apache, IIS, Sun Java
o Databases; MySQL, SQL
o Website programming languages; PHP, HTML, XML, AJAX, JavaScript
o CMS: Joomla
