USAID AMPATH Partnership Fellowship Vacancies

Academic Model Providing Access to Health Care (AMPATH) is a project under the auspices of Moi University School of Medicine and Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital in collaboration with Indiana University School of Medicine, all uniting their resources towards tackling Kenya’s major health problems.
AMPATH is now expanding its services from comprehensive HIV care and treatment to include Primary Health Care (PHC) and Chronic Disease Management (CDM). The Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Disease Center of Excellence is part of this expansion.
Applications are invited for the following fellowship positions in the AMPATH Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Disease Center of Excellence.
Positions: Cardiology and Pulmonology
(1 Post each)
The AMPATH Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Diseases Center of Excellence’s clinical research fellowship is a three year program. The mission of this program is to develop Kenyan Clinical Investigators able to apply clinical research methodology to prevent and alleviate Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Disease (CVPD) among the Kenyan population.
The Centre of Excellence (COE) fellowship is an intensive program comprised of both research and clinical training with a primary emphasis on the development of physician-investigators capable of conducting independent research projects in their respective specialty fields.
The major goal of the clinical training component is to develop basic competency in the prevention, recognition and management of CVPD. It is expected that the fellowship training will lead to a mature understanding of the prevalence of CVPD, the ability to identify signs and symptoms of early stage CVPD in the outpatient and inpatient setting, and confidence in implementing state of the art evidence-based treatment algorithms.
COE fellows will pursue clinical research training concurrently with their clinical training. This will consist of a  combination of didactic and mentored activities.
