- BACKGROUND
RECONCILE is a church-related, indigenous ecumenical institution established in 2003 by the New Sudan Council of Churches to promote civic education and trauma healing in an endeavor to mitigate conflicts between communities in Sudan. RECONCILE builds on the results of the People to People Peace Process. The effects of the past wars in the Sudan has had a dramatic consequence upon the peoples of South Sudan resulting in an environment where it is difficult for communities to build trust, heal memories of trauma, transform conflict and promote reconciliation. RECONCILE was established with the specific role of promotion and training in conflict transformation that includes issues of psychosocial rehabilitation, trauma awareness and reconciliation, promotion and training on issues of democratization and good governance, and promotion of interfaith dialogue.

To realize this vision, RECONCILE is seeking to recruit a psychosocial support officer.
Job description
The successful candidate will:

- Ensure the accurate design, planning and successful implementation of RECONCILE’s psychosocial rehabilitation department projects.
- Design further psychosocial interventions and successfully launch proposals
- Elaborate RECONCILE’s 2010-2012 psychosocial rehabilitation strategy, set clear objectives and benchmarks and undertake the necessary effective steps to achieve them.
- Plan, organize and lead structured programs of counseling, work, study, recreation and social activities for clients.
- Plan and conduct workshops to prevent community violence/gender based violence / or improve community health and counseling services
- Be familiar with and handle carefully donor requirements, accountancy and accountability guidelines etc.
- Network with possible future donors and other NGOs active in psychosocial and gender issues in the region and maintain good relations with other relevant stakeholders
- Closely cooperate with implementing local partners
- Supervise and monitor psychosocial projects and develop indicators for their evaluation
- Any other duties pertaining to RECONCILE’s vision and mission may be assigned.
Qualifications
- Hold diploma or bachelor degree in counseling and guidance, peace and conflict studies, humanitarian aid or a related field
- Knowledge of Arabic and any other local Sudanese languages is an asset.
- Computer literate: Microsoft word, excel, power point and internet
- Be committed, flexible and able to work under pressure and have a good sense of humor
- Be an extraordinary organizer with multi-tasking and excellent communication as well as intercultural skills.
- Have 2 years of experience in a development or emergency environment
- Have at least 2 years of field experience in conflict or post-conflict settings, preferably with a demonstrated experience in psychosocial/gender based violence activities at the grass roots level, project design and programming etc.
- Have a proven track record of successful proposal writing and NGO-donor relations.
