National Economic Development Coordinator - World Vision Kenya (WVK) Vacancies

World Vision Kenya (WVK) is a leading non-governmental Christian humanitarian, relief, development and advocacy organization with projects in most parts of Kenya. We wish to urgently recruit a highly competent, proactive and self-driven person to fill the following position within our organization.

National Economic Development Coordinator

To be based in Nairobi


Purpose of the position: To provide overall leadership and coordination of the Economic Development (ED) sector in quality assurance, staff & community capacity building, technical support, engagement & networking at all levels aimed at achieving well designed, integrated and sustainable economic development initiatives.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Update of WVK Economic Development strategy inline with the National Office strategy and other relevant  Government policies;
  • Prepare/revise guidelines for implementation of Economic Development Projects in relevant areas;
  • Provide technical support and build capacities of WVK staff in Economic Development
  • Monitor implementation of ED initiatives and adjust implementation guidelines / plans accordingly;
  • Identify national and international ED opportunities and promote them in the Integrated Program Area (IPA) communities within WVK;
  • Provide appropriate technical support during concepts/proposal writing, budgeting, assessments, baselines and evaluations necessary in the development of program designs and project proposals;
  • Facilitate IPAs to develop high quality (best practices) Economic Development projects
  • Strengthen the working relationship with WVK IPAs and other partners to further integrate ED projects and enhance entrepreneurship, promote marketing opportunities and enhance the uptake of microfinance in the IPA communities;
  • Lobby with Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) for better products and service delivery for the IPA communities;
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Educational requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness Management, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Development Economics or any other related discipline from a recognized University. An advanced degree is preferred;
  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years experience in designing, planning, implementing, supervising and reporting on integrated economic development, relief and/or advocacy projects.
  • A results orientated leader who can handle a heavy work load as well as manage and satisfy multiple and at times conflicting organizational, donor and other stakeholder demands.
  • He /she must also be adept at public relations and be a strong team player.
  • Demonstrated success at developing strategic plans, partnerships and effective networks in the development and agricultural sectors.
  • Strong commitment to WV Values, Mission and Vision.
