VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT Logistics Assistant









Malteser International is a German based humanitarian NGO and has been implementing health programs in South Sudan since 1997. Malteser has field locations in Yei (Central Equatoria State), Maridi (Western Equatoria State) and Rumbek (Lakes State).

Malteser wishes to recruit a Logistic Assistant for the South Sudan Coordination Office in Juba.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·                     Maintains and improves compound and existing buildings as well as technical installations, giving technical support within office and team house structures
·                     Performs and/or supervises small constructions, modifications and repairs
·                     Ensures sufficient water supply, proper functioning and maintenance of the water systems and material at Malteser structures
·                     Ensures proper functioning of the power systems of office and team houses, including generator and inverter, and supervises repairs when necessary
·                     Organizes and manages the store, both physically and administrative
·                     Supports the Logistics & Security Officer  in procurement, orders and delivery of materials or goods and has to keep clear records, following the Malteser guidelines for logistics and procurement
·                     Performs the external payment of all sorts of bills or invoices on behalf of Malteser
·                     Deals with government offices related to logistics (e.g. Customs, Ministry of Finance or other GoSS
authorities, Public Security), especially he/she is responsible for clearing goods and items for Malteser from customs or other official institutions 
·                     Responsible for reception of goods delivered from other locations by road (including off loading trucks & vehicles)
·                     Responsible for preparing all documentation for goods to be sent to other locations and institutes, according to the Malteser guidelines
·                     Facilitating the process of visa applications and other registration procedures with civil authorities
·                     Responsible for writing logistical monthly reports
·                     Follows the security guidelines when on duty, including regular radio communication (HF, VHF)

REQUIRED SKILLS:
·                     Nationality: Sudanese
·                     Practical knowledge of mechanics and electricity
·                     Driving of cars and motorcycles (proven by driving license)
·                     Fluent in English and Juba Arabic, local languages a plus
·                     Computer skills are an advantage
·                     Good communication and translation skills, e.g. capacity of dealing with government officials, traders/merchants and external visitors to the office
·                     Adaptability to various situations and capacity to deal with stress
·                     Capacity to work independently and in an organized way
·                     Sense of setting priorities
·                     Positive, problem-solving attitude
·                     Capacity of planning and organizing work according priorities and schedule
