Agriculture Officer: Lutheran World Federation/Department for World Service Jobs

The Lutheran World Federation/Department for World Service is one of the humanitarian organizations operating in Southern Sudan.

LWF/DWS Sudan Programme has its head office in Torit, Eastern Equatorial State.

It has field offices in Ikotos, Eastern Equatorial State, Panyagor in Jonglei State and Kurmuk in Blue Nile State.

LWF/DWS Sudan Program is seeking to recruit for the position of Agriculture Officer to be based in Kurmuk.

The incumbent may be required to move to other LWF/DWS locations upon request.

The salary shall be according to LWF/DWS Sudan Programme Staff Policy Manual.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical trainings to farmers on improved crop production and post harvest technologies.
  • Support the establishment and operation of Farmer Field Schools (FFS) and conduct on farm demonstrations and trainings to farmers.
  • Take lead in supporting farmers to start dry-season vegetable production.
  • Supervise the Agricultural Extension Workers.
  • Take lead in the beneficiaries targeting, distribution and monitoring of agricultural inputs.
  • Participate during monitoring, review, and evaluation of the project.
  • Make and develop contacts with relevant stakeholders in the Agriculture sector.
  • Produce weekly and monthly progress reports including data/information relevant to project activities.
  • Maintain detailed project records and documentation of all project activities in the field.
  • Provide written and verbal translation of documents, project papers, at meetings, etc. as requested.
  • Follow all protocols and regulations according to the guidance provided by LWF.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager/supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelors’ degree in agriculture or other related field.
  • At least 3 years experience working with livelihoods (Agricultural based) programmes implementation preferably with NGOs.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Computer knowledge
  • Knowledge of Arabic and language of the duty station will be an added advantage.
