Full-time The Refugee Law Project vacancies in Uganda

The Refugee Law Project is an outreach project of the faculty of law, Makerere University. Our Mission is to empower asylum seekers, refugees, deportees, IDPs and host communities in Uganda to enjoy their human rights and lead dignified lives.

We are seeking;

1) Head of Research & Advocacy Dept to coordinate and fundraise for the various department programmes and provide line management and supervision of programme teams, research associates, Volunteers and interns. S/he should be able to demonstrate field research experience as well as group facilitation skills, and be conversant with concepts of Forced Migration, Transitional Justice, gender, masculinities, sexual & gender based violence. Proven of published works is mandatory. A Masters degree in a related field is desirable.

2) Head of Legal & Psycho-social Department to coordinate and fundraise for the various department programmes and provide line-management and supervision over the programme teams, Volunteers and interns. S/he should be an advocate of the High court of Uganda and must be conversant with the international, regional and national mechanism for the protection of children. Masters Degree in Human Rights is desirable.

3) Legal Officer to coordinate the Access to Justice Programme. S/he should be an advocate of the High court of Uganda and must be conversant with the international, regional and national mechanism for the protection of children.

4) Family tracing Assistant to be responsible for the training refugee clients and cafe operators in refugee hosting areas how to search for missing persons. S/he must be a trained social worker and be computer literate.

5) Volunteer English For Adults (EFA) Instructor to teach adult learners functional English and practical skills. Must have demonstrated experience in the teaching of English to Adults and in the management of a similar programme.

6) Volunteer Lawyer to be involved in intake of refugee claims, representation of refugees and asylums seekers before the courts and other relevant agencies. S/he should be an advocate of the High Court of Uganda.

7) Volunteer Communications Assistant to assist in the writing, management and production of brochures, newsletters, briefing notes and working papers. S/he must be a trained in Mass Communication or Journalism.
