Education Manager job in Uganda

Stromme Foundation is a Norwegian based international development organization that helps poor people in Africa, Asia and South America to cross the poverty line. Through challenging, committed and long term partnerships with local organizations, along with focused and lasting value creation for every donation the organization is entrusted, Stramme Foundation aims to eradicate poverty by supporting Education and Microfinance. Stromme Foundation in East Africa works in the countries of Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and South Sudan.

Description: Title: Education Manager
Position Scope:
Reporting directly to the Regional Programs Coordinator, the Education Manager shall be responsible for advancing Stromme Foundations' Education goals, procedures and policies at the national, regional and international level in line with SF values, objectives, mission and vision.

Key Responsibilities:
• Coordinating and facilitating selection, recruitment and development of education partners and partnering activities in the Eastern Africa Region
• Networking, advocating and lobbying for vulnerable children and women with various governments, likeminded NGOs, and firms
• Providing technical and administrative advice to other regional Education staff in the region and Education Projects funded by Stromme Foundation
• Developing strategies and innovative processes and systems for strengthening basic education systems in poor and hard to reach
• Identify training needs and organize necessary trainings to build capacity of partner organizations
• Develop and promote Development Education concepts among SF partners
• Provide technical and professional support for improving basic education quality for children at risk, and ensure increased access, retention and completion rates
• Develop and coordinate participatory and preliminary studies to establish good baseline data for initiating new Education projects
• Encouraging local resources" mobilization and community participation in education projects
• Ensure that SF Education partners uphold recognized Child protection policies

Requirements:

Required Qualifications:
• Individuals with a first degree in Education, Sociology, Development Anthropology. Relevant Masters Degree will be an added
•At least five years experience in a similar position, preferably with an International NGO

Person Specifications:
• A creative/resourceful individual who possesses energy, self-confidence, and flexibility and thrives in a dynamic multi-cultural environment
• Should have judgment necessary to understand, balance, and respond to the competing needs of many different constituents; bring fresh ideas and a genuine interest in trying new approaches
• Demonstrated understanding of Development Education concepts and experience in fundraising
• Should be a good team player, passionate, of high integrity, and articulate about rights based development approaches and social change
• Possess excellent people and mentoring skills
• Good written and verbal communication skills in English
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
• Should be willing to travel extensively locally and internationally
• A Committed Christian
