National Museums of Kenya ( Institute of Primate Research (IPR) )Jobs - Senior Procurement Officer

The Institute of Primate Research (IPR) is a biomedical research directorate of the National Museums of Kenya located in the serene environment of Karen-Ololua on the outskirts of Nairobi.
We are seeking to recruit a highly motivated individual of unquestionable integrity to fill the above position based at the institute of Primate Research (IPR).
Reporting to the Principal Administration Officer, the successful candidate will handle the following functions;
  • Local and International sourcing of research supplies and materials, equipment and general supplies
  • Develop and maintain a database of supplies
  • Oversee annual preparartion of procurement plan
  • Prepare and process purchase orders for supplies and equipment
  • Ensure adherance of regulations governing purchasing functions as per Public Procurement and Disposal Act, 2005, other public sector procurement regulations and NMK procurement procedures
  • Maintain records of goods ordered and received
  • Participate in negotiating contracts
  • Follow-up with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of goods and services
  • Address vendors/contractor grievances and claims against suppliers
  • Prepare bids awards requiring management approval
Person specification
  • A bachelor degree in any field from a recognised training institution plus a Post Graduate Diploma in Supplies Management
  • Have served as a Procurement Officer in a reputable organisation for at least three years
  • Experience in dealing with highly technical research supplies and equipment
  • Familiar with clearance procedures and duty exemption process
  • Must be a registered member of Kenya Institute of Supplies Management
  • Must be computer literate
