Kenya Coffee Producers Association (KCPA) is a member organization of all Coffee Producers in Kenya. It exists to lobby for a conducive environment for coffee production and business, and implements projects which are beneficial to its members. KCPA has received a grant from AgriCord through the Swedish Cooperative Center to concurrently implement two pilot projects for the next 17 months. These projects are in tree planting and production of Biogas using coffee pulp.
The Association is seeking to recruit a dynamic person to the position of Project Officer based in its Nairobi with travel to the field office to implement these projects. The successful candidate will be offered a 17th month contract.
Key Responsibility
Reporting to the Executive Officer the project officer’s responsibilities will include the following:
• Implementation of the projects as per the proposals and donor expectations
• Identifying and recruiting project participants sites where these projects will be implemented.
• Identifying service providers to construct demonstration bio-gas plants
• Identifying service providers to build the capacity of existing tree nurseries so that they
produce trees which are compatible with coffee production
• Promotion and dissemination of the services these projects
• Production of work plans, monitoring of the progress of the project, data collection, compiling
reports to submit to the executive officer
• Networking with relevant stakeholders to ensure that the project is well implemented
• Assisting in strengthening KCPA membership base
Academic Qualifications and Experience
• A diploma agriculture or any other relevant field from a reputable institution
• Thorough knowledge and understanding of coffee production in Kenya
• 3 years experience in implementing similar projects
• Team player, self driven, strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Good organizational and management skills.
• Possession of a driving license
• High level of computer literacy
• Networking and people skills
• Excellent oral and writing skills
