VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT - Post of Assistant to the Technical Advisor

Post of Assistant to the Technical Advisor, the Sudan Land Property
Rights Program


The USAID Juba Mission is providing support to Southern Sudan to
develop a land tenure policy and legislative framework that will lead
to productive, efficient, and sustainable allocation and use of land
in Southern Sudan. As part of its efforts, the Mission has contracted
ARD, Inc. to design and implement a two-year Property Rights and
Resource Governance Project. ARD, Inc. is seeking a highly qualified,
motivated individual to serve as an Assistant to the Technical Advisor
on Land Administration.
The responsibilities and tasks shall include but not limited to:
1. Familiarise himself/herself with the goals and activities of the
Sudan Land Property Rights Program.
2. Be conversant with the scope of work of the Technical Advisor.
3. Arrange meetings with Southern Sudan Land Commission and state-
and local-level land authorities as agreed with the Technical
Advisor.
4. Advise the Technical Advisor on matters of social structure,
political authority and land rights and land administration in areas
to be visited for purposes of research. Provide introductions to
officials and others persons to be interviewed by the Technical
Advisor.
5. Assist in identifying and assessing relevant data on land
administration, including official documents, for review by the
Technical Advisor.
6. Provide translations when necessary.
7. Advise on all matters of general relevance to the work of the
Technical Advisor.
8. Liaise with SPRP staff in helping arrange transport and
accommodation for all field work.
9. Undertake other tasks related to the work of the Technical Advisor
on request.

Duration: A total of 90 Consultancy Days (spread over a 5 month
period) are available for the assignment.
Start Date: Immediately

Qualifications: Prospective candidates should have a minimum of a good
first degree in land administration, geography, natural resources or
any other relevant qualification. Possession of a relevant Masters
Degree is a clear advantage. Applicants must have excellent knowledge
of local languages in Southern Sudan.
