The Kenya Industrial Research and Development Institute (KIRDI) and The Kenya ICT Board, in collaboration with Kamtech Associates Pvt. Ltd, an Indian software development company, UNIDO and the Ministry of Industrialisation, launched a Software Development Incubation Service at KIRDI, Nairobi.
The programme commenced in October 2008 with the current group being the third batch.
This is a call for the fourth batch commencing April, 2010 in airobi. The program will admit university, college graduates and existing business startups who intend to be entrepreneurs in ICT. The training will be carried in the Nairobi South C campus incubation unit.
They will undergo three months training on ICT business skills development, after which they will be admitted to the incubator for a period of nine months to establish businesses.
The overall goal of the program is to contribute towards building national capacity for ICT/ IT Enabled Services in software development and outsourcing to make Kenya a major player in ICT and BPO services in the region in line with Kenya’s Vision 2030.
The specific objectives of this program include:

- To build capacity for the creation of first generation ICT/ITES enterprises
- To create 100 new ICT development entreprises per year for the next three years
- To transfer software development business skills from India to Kenya
- To provide business mentoring services
