Call for Entries of a Journalism Contest on Labor Issues Reporting

The Eastern Africa Journalists Association (EAJA) is accepting submissions for a journalism contest on labour issues reporting. The contest will cover any articles/products published during the calendar year 2009.

The contest will be for articles in the following categories: print and online media; radio; television and photography.

Each journalist can submit a maximum of one article/product in each category. The contest is open to journalists in Burundi, Djibouti, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya, Tanzania, Seychelles, Somalia, Sudan and Uganda.

Each submission must have been published by an established media source for audiences in Eastern Africa region. There is no language requirement for submissions, although judging may require that some submissions be translated. Winners will be announced at the end of February 2010. Each winner will receive a statuette and a pleasant prize.

The Eastern Africa Journalists Association (EAJA) is the sub-regional group of the Federation of African Journalists, the regional organisation of the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ).

The EAJA campaigns to preserve and promote freedom of expression and of the press, and to protect and promote the rights and interests of journalists and other media workers. It is autonomous in determining its policies and action regarding sub-regional matters, while also promoting the priorities and policies of the IFJ in its sub-region.

The deadline for the submission: Tuesday 16 February 2010. Submission must be sent to eaja @ eaja.org
