Regional ICT Generalist job in Kenya

Reports To: Director, Global Information Communication Technology
The position will also:
1. Have a dotted line reporting relationship to the Country Program Director or their delegate (e.g. Country Program Manager).
2. Be accountable to the Africa Program and Conservation Operations in New York
3. Collaborate closely with other IT staff, including Helpdesk in New York
Position Objective:
1. To coordinate and implement central ICT services for the WCS Africa Program in coordination with efforts to develop ICT services globally.
2. To provide global coordination and support in addressing connectivity and local office network issues.
Principal Responsibilities:
1. Provide global coordination and support in addressing connectivity and local network issues through:
1. Evaluating, planning and responding to global connectivity and local network issues with a through advocating a standard, scalable solutions and with a focus on those priority locations reliant on satellite connectivity in Africa.
2. Further developing WCS’ capacity to assess connectivity and LAN needs.
2. Provide support to ensure Complementary Administrative Systems are relevant and valuable to the field through:
1. Working with sites to secure feedback and identify needs
2. Suggesting solutions and improvements
3. Implementing reports as requested
3. Provide broad technical support to WCS’ Africa program on ICT issues including support for desktop, server and cloud services.
4. Provide local ICT support for hosting Country Program (Kenya/South Sudan) as defined by the local management of the program.
5. Provide global back up and support on all IT issues including back up support for WCS Google Apps instance and basic support for WCS’ Programmatic Websites
6. Complete other ICT projects and tasks as defined.
The position will require working a normal Monday through Friday workweek including Holidays as necessary. Travel to field offices may also be required.
Education, Experience and Personal Qualities
1. BSc degree in a computer science related field or equivalent experience.
2. Ability to work independently and to precisely document tasks completed
3. Strong communication skills
4. 5+ years experience of providing technology support including a demonstrable ability to address networking and connectivity issues.
