VACANCY FOR A CLINICAL OFFICER - UGANDA

Jjanda medical centre is a private not for profit health centre and a brain child of Children’s Welfare Mission. The centre is operating in Wakiso district as a Health centre level three. It offers a range of services including general medical care, laboratory services, dental services, antenatal, maternity and post natal care and static and outreach immunisation. The centre is also an HIV counselling and testing centre, TB diagnostic centre and the centre has special clinics for skin problems and albino care. We are therefore looking for a highly motivated and competent, Christian medical professional to fill the post of Clinical officer and in-charge which has fallen vacant.

Job title: Clinical officer and in-charge of Jjanda medical centre
Reports to: National Director Children’s Welfare Mission
Duty station: Namugongo-Wakiso district

Responsibilities:
The Clinical officer/in charge will be responsible for at least the following;
• Perform consultation duties in OPD
• Perform ward round in the inpatient ward
• Supervision of the Nurses, Midwives, Lab technician and nursing aides
• To participate in planning, directing, budgeting, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of clinical work
• Managing and accounting for allocated resources
• Referring complicated cases
• Conducting health education to patients
• Ensuring quality assurance in clinical work
• Ensuring that staff adheres to professional Code of Conduct and Ethics
• Carrying out human resource management activities like identifying manpower needs, training, promotion, leave and deployment
• Imparting knowledge and skills to staff and students
• To enhance and add to the skill
• To carry out any other duty that might be assigned by management in charge.

Minimum Qualifications and working experiences:
• Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Public Health or its equivalent from a recognized institute.
• Must have at least three years of professional work experience. A letter from former employer is needed.
• Must be 24 years and above of age.
• Must be fluent in both spoken and written English and Luganda, at least.
• Self-driven, flexibility and willingness to work beyond working hours, including weekend
• Must have good interpersonal skills and be a person of high level integrity.
• Must be a born again Christian and if married must have an official marriage certificate of a church.
• Must be computer literate at least in word processing, excel and power point.
