Greener Pastures Africa is seeking to recruit a qualified IT MANAGER for our client, an information and communication technology company in East Africa providing Value Added Services (VAS) over SMS, MMS, WAP/GPRS, USSD and IVR platforms with a wide range of interactive communication, Information and entertainment services. The job is based in UGANDA. The position reports to the Managing Director.
Description:
MUST HAVE UNIX/LINUX EXPERIENCE
The main purpose of the job is to oversee the maintenance of our clients’ sizeable IT infrastructure and to consult with business unit, vendors and clients to determine system requirements (software, hardware and integration).
Responsibilities:
* MUST HAVE MINIMUM 2 YEARS IT MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE
Assign, coordinate, and review work and activities of programming personnel.
* Train subordinates in programming and program coding.
* Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
* Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications.
* Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients.
* Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
* Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
* Confer with the management committee and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
* Manage backup, security and user help systems.
* Consult with users, management, vendors, and technicians to assess computing needs and system requirements.
* Evaluate data processing proposals to assess project feasibility and requirements.
Requirements:
* BSc or MSc in Information Technology or related technical discipline (or equivalent).
* Extensive programming experience in C/C++ and/or Java
* Several years of large systems software design and development experience, with extensive knowledge of Unix/Linux.
* Professional certifications in Project Management (CAPM or PMP) and ITIL are an added advantage
