Job Description:
GENERAL FUNCTION:
This position reports to Finance Manager to ensure that all financial operations are properly documented in compliance with IAAS and NGO standard practices. The incumbent works to protect the country office's assets through the enforcement of internal control policies and procedures as well as maintains current knowledge of local government requirements related to financial matters and ensures compliance with tax regulations and other legal requirements. To participate in planning and directing related to financial management and budgeting, human resources management, information technology infrastructure, administrative services and programmatic records management for the Darfur program in Sudan in the absence of the Finance Manager. This position also ensures that all financial operations are properly documented, in compliance with GAAP and NGO standard practices and prepared to be audited.
SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES:
- Support the Finance Manager in their role as the liaison with DR Finance Officer (World Relief Headquarters) on all finance, accounting, grant budget management, and cash management matters.
- Develop schedules and performs the completion of internal control audits and initiate necessary actions to correct control weaknesses.
- Prepare all monthly bank account and cash reconciliations.
- Submit all required support documents for annual corporate audit.
- Assist Finance Manager with monthly cash flow projections and wire requests to World Relief Headquarters.
- Ensure program compliance with OFDA and CFGB requirements and World Relief policies and procedures.
- Prepare all financial reports in QuickBooks or applicable organization's financial system.
- Maintain detailed records, ensuring the security of records, and prepared for rapid evacuation if necessary.
- Track commodity in Gift-in-Kind, and assets of the organization such as fixed assets.
- Assist in providing finance training to sector heads and other identified groups of staff on managing the sector budgets, and routine finance functions.
- Assist Logistician in maintaining an updated inventory of all assets of the country office and enters into an appropriate financial system.
- Promote "best practice" and capacity-build to strengthen procedures and staff members.
- Perform other duties and tasks as assigned by the GRA Country Director and/or Finance Manager.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or a suitable field, recognized professional certification such as CPA, preferred.
- Computer literate, with some experience in Quickbooks, Microsoft Office
- Ability to manage budgets, financial accountability procedures, logistics, and commodity tracking.
- Prior multi-cultural team experience
- Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
- Previous employment with a not for profit organization that receives funding from multiple sources, preferably in an international context.
- Foreign language ability, Arabic preferred.
- Previous experience in a Muslim environment, preferred.
