Operational Risk Manager

The Position

In this role, the incumbent would be required to partner with various local and regional Risk & Control groups across KCB Group, to leverage practices/ tools available and meet the requirements of KCB Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Implementation of Operational Risk Management Framework and policy in line with KCB Operational Management practices and standards to facilitate effective risk oversight across the group
- Actively conduct process Risk Review through Risk & Control Self Assessment process in Operational Risk entities and conduct operational risk assessment for new/changed business/process initiatives and existing activities by drawing the overall entity/process risk heatmap.
- Support the Loss Data Manager in development and maintaining Operational Risk loss data/incident collection, build Risk Scenarios and causal factors.
- Devise and implement the Business key risk indicators framework, analysis and reporting process
- To suggest practical recommendations to streamline and improve the internal control framework through Operational Risk review of the group’s Business Policies & Procedures.
- Establish and implement Key Control Standards Assessments as per Group ORM Risk policy.
- Prepare the Group operational risk reports for senior management presentation.
- Bank wide staff training and awareness creation to promote a strong culture of sound Operational risk management
The Person
For the above position, the successful applicant should have:-

- A University Degree from a recognized university degree holder.
- An MBA in relevant field and a Professional qualification in Accounting/Banking (FRM, CPA (K), ACCA, PRMIA, CFA, AKIB, ACIB) will be an added advantage.
- Minimum 3 years management experience in Operational Risk Management and or Risk based Internal Audit with a proven track record of conducting successful implementation of an Operational Risk Management Assurance (ORMA) Framework.
- Knowledge of bank-wide business functions including Operations, Credit (evaluation & administration), Treasury, etc as well as knowledge of the bank’s products and services.
- Good understanding of regulatory requirements - CBK, Basel II business line classification and Sound Principles of Operational Risk Management
- Proficiency in any standard ORM MIS, using key Banking systems and a good understanding of process mapping and review to embed Key Control Standards.
- Good communication, presentation skills
- Project Management skills
- Good knowledge of MS – Word, Excel, PPT, Project, Visio
- Excellent leadership, organizational, analytical and planning skills
