UNICEF Somalia Technical Consultant Job Vacancy in Nairobi

Qualified candidates are invited to apply for a Consultancy position to review IEC (information, education, communication) materials for UNICEF Somalia’s Nutrition and WASH sections. The successful candidate will be offered a Special Service Agreement (SSA) for 30 days.

Purpose of the Post:

Messaging to promote behavior change is a common feature i5n the Nutrition and WASH sections of UNICEF.

IEC materials are developed and disseminated by each section often with little discussion or consultation between them.

As UNICEF moves towards a more integrated approach the different materials used should be streamlined so that the different sections are promoting the passing consistent messages.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

The consultant is expected to carry out the following tasks:

    * Consult with the implicated UNICEF sections as well as partner organizations on the types and usage of IEC materials
    * Map the available IEC materials in UNICEF Somalia Nutrition and WASH sections as well as partner organizations. Include how they are being used and how users view the effectiveness of their materials
    * Of those available, suggest ideal materials to use. Additionally, identify gaps in available materials
    * Suggest how UNICEF and its partners can diversify and improved use of IEC materials to promote optimal nutrition and hygiene promotion

Qualifications and experience:

    * Advanced university degree in Public Health or related technical field.
    * At least 5 years of professional experience in the field of Public Health.
    * Knowledge on the latest thinking in Behaviour Change Communication.
    * Previous experience creating and reviewing IEC materials is necessary
    * Hands on experience in emergency response implementation desired
    * Strong communication skills
    * Ability to work independently with minimum supervision.
    * Knowledge of Somalia operational context
    * Fluency in English.
