General manager service industry job in Kenya

The general manager of a public radio station must possess previous experience and have extensive knowledge of the radio broadcasting.

Qualifications

Minimum is a bachelor's degree in communications, but a master's degree in the same discipline is strongly preferred. The applicant should also have experience working at a public broadcasting station and have management experience. Strong written and communication skills are also important.

General Responsibilities

Developing programs that will make an impact on the station and its listeners, representing the radio station during public appearances, meetings and within the community in which the station serves.

Implementing and maintaining the fiscal budget for the entire year, supervising administrative services for the station and participating in fundraising activities and events.

Performance

Being a public radio general manager does not only require being a supervisor, but also a leader. The person must be able to demonstrate a positive attitude toward her employees and the community where the station broadcasts.
