Project Consultant: m2m Kenya Program Handbook

Purpose: To provide technical leadership and facilitate the development of a Program Handbook for mothers2mothers Kenya. The position is based in Nairobi, liaising with the Country Representative. The consultancy agreement will require three to four months of work (beginning immediately), to be finalized on negotiation with the successful candidate.

Key Outcomes:
•Liaise with key stakeholders across the organization to create and manage an effective process for Program Handbook development, including definition of target audience and objectives, table of contents, preliminary utilization and roll-out plan;
•Solicit content from content experts throughout the organization (both within Kenya, at m2m HQ in SA, and within other m2m country programs);
•Develop writing guidelines and coordinate the work of project writers (primarily based at m2m HQ in SA, plus other locations);
•Field test draft handbook content with key stakeholders;
•Synthesize the final draft of the handbook working with a graphic designer;
•Facilitate internal review and approval of the final product.
Additional Qualifications:
Qualifications and Experience Required:
•Master’s degree in health sciences or a related field, or commensurate experience;
•Experience leading the development of programmatic resource materials for non-profit organizations (guidelines, toolkits, program handbooks, etc.);
•Experience working with health service systems and health service delivery;
•Background in HIV/MCH/SRH in sub-Saharan Africa advantageous.

Competencies Required:
•Demonstrated excellence in English writing and editing skills; ability to clearly consolidate information and narrate to a target audience;
•Strong facilitation and communication skills;
•Ability develop processes to solicit and ensure the participation of stakeholders at multiple levels and to facilitate matrix management of a project across countries and departments;
•Dynamism, creativity and flexibility;
•Fluency in English (both written and oral) required; fluency in Kiswahili an advantage;
•Cultural sensitivity to effectively engage participants of all levels and backgrounds;
•High level of computer literacy (MS Office);
•Enthusiasm to work on behalf of m2m’s mother and infant clients;
•PMTCT/MCH content expertise is NOT required.
