GRANTS OFFICER Job at Baylor College of Medicine

Position: GRANTS OFFICER
Duty station: Arua, Soroti
Reports to; Finance and Administration Officer.

Purpose of the job: To review and monitor funds requests, utilization and accountability by Districts and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) to ensure performance based sub granting in accordance with the Funders' and Baylor's finance guidelines

Key Result Areas:
1. Develop a Grants Management Manual for the region for adoption by sub grantees.
2. Review CSOs' funding proposals and applications for grants and check for completeness, consistency and accuracy in accordance with established criteria and programme funding guidelines
3. Provide advice to applicants and potential applicants about award and grant requirements and how to complete applications in accordance with the grant management guidelines
4. Prepare grant management plans and submit them for approval in accordance with Baylor planning guidelines
5. Review the grant performance of Districts and CSOs and give advice to address existing gaps in line with the Programme and donor guidelines
6. Disseminate information and provide feedback on grant management to the programme stakeholders in accordance with the Programme guidelines
7. Develop and maintain a database for grant management activities of the organization in accordance with Programme guidelines
8. Write accountability reports and submit them to Finance in line with the Project guidelines and donor requirements

Qualifications and personal specifications
The successful applicant must have:
1. A University degree in Accounting or any other business related field and professional qualification in Accounting (ACCA or CPA)
2. At least two (2) years1 working experience preferably in a grants environment within the NGO Sector.
3. Experience in computerized accounting systems, preferably NAVISION, as well as proficiency in MS Word and MS Excel.
4. Demonstrated ability to plan and meet deadlines.
5. Good analytical, teamwork and excellent interpersonal skills
6. 24-40 years of age
7. Registration with an accounting professional body is required.
