Duties and responsibilities

Duties and Responsibilities at this level will entail:

* Formulating the station goals, policies and procedures;
* Coordinating programming of the education channel broadcast schedules;
* Previewing and evaluating local and international educational television programmes to determine relevance and quality for transmission;
* Sourcing for suitable Educational programmes for broadcast.
* Responding to viewers’ questions, comments and/or complaints regarding television programming/scheduling;
* Preparing annual workplan and budget;
* Conducting monitoring and evaluation of the educational channel programmes and prepare reports;
* Liaising with the Production manager on programmes content and schedules;
* Ensuring compliance with national and international regulations and guidelines in broadcasting;
* Initiating programme sponsorship and;
* Inducting, training and supervising staff.

Requirements for appointment

For appointment to this grade an officer must have:

* Bachelor’s degree in any of the following disciplines:- Communications, Media Studies, Broadcast Journalism, Information Sciences or related field and at least three (3) years experience in programme evaluation, acquisition and scheduling of television programmes in a reputable broadcasting house at a supervisory level.
* TV Production training;
* Conversant with broadcast regulations, rules and guidelines as well as technical and production standards;
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and;
* Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
